Sublimation Printers
Sublimation is when substances move between the solid and gaseous stages without going to liquid stage. Sublimation printing is the act of a dye being heated such that it turns to gas, then latches onto the media and solidifies. Sublimation is a pretty cool process which involves pretty interesting chemical divulgence; and think it’s really just all about printing stuff, isn’t it? A dye sublimation printer is one that engenders this strange type of printing. Dye sublimation printers may also produce photos in a dye sublimation photo printer, or even color photos in a dye sublimation color printer. Colors used in a dye sublimation printer are cyan, magenta, and yellow. This is one of the great strengths of dye sublimation printers over dot matrix printers is the great strength in color blending. If you can get a supreme advantage over other levels of color coordination, then why wouldn’t you want to? Also because the thermal heads don’t have to move around there is less opportunity for breakage which is always a welcome event in the life of a printer owner.

Another great advantage over dot matrix printers is that dye sublimation printers are ready to touch straight out of the printer; there’s no waiting of the ink to dry. Another point is that these printers are more reliable than conventional dot matrix varieties in output and quality.
Sublimation printers have their drawbacks; dye sublimation bows to each panel of color so that if they can’t match the tone, they feel very worthless. Also dye sublimation printers fall short for producing neutral or toned black and white prints with higher density. Without neutral tones or black and where I’d be able to locate my friends in a crowd. Sublimation printers are far superior to inkjet printers in many ways and that makes me feel good about the future of the printer. For too long we’ve been holding onto these ideas about what should be and how our printers should behave. Sublimation printers not only give me hope for the future; it also sheds some glare on where we’ve come from, how far we’ve com and how far we’ve yet to go. |
