Photo Printers
Photo printers are designed specifically to print high quality digital photos on photo paper. While there are a great number of photo printers available on the market today, consumers need to be wary and do their homework before purchasing one; deceptions in advertising and no oversight in regulations make navigating this minefield a tricky enterprise indeed. Photo printers have exploded in popularity with the rise of digital camera technology and everyone thinking they’re a photographer in their own home. Prior to the rise of this type of in-home use, photo printers were typically priced markedly higher, reserved exclusively for professionals. Today you can walk into Best Buy or Wal Mart, search for the best digital color photo printer, and practically walk out with a photo printer for free.

Professional quality photo printers are available from different manufacturers, and the best photo printers are not always necessarily the most expensive. You should always check your listings and find out what the highest rated photo printer is before deciding on the best photo printer is for your situation. Do you need a high quality picture resolution from your printer? Does your printer need to be easily transported as a portable photo printer? Is the ranking in order most important to you? Or are you more concerned with customer satisfaction and customer service? All these are legitimate concerns, all of which should be addressed before you buy.
However, shop with caution! Due to lack of oversight and no clear definition, there really is little difference between an ink jet printer and photo printer. Technically, the only real difference is shades of color used by a photo printer for more vibrant color control and better finished product. However, due to the ability of most ink jet printers to have a few colors (hence, they can print ‘color photos’) many advertisers and printer manufacturers are slapping the term “photo printer” on their product and marking up the price. You should be wary of this practice and ask as many questions before making the investment in your photo printer. Not everyone out there is dishonest, but it only takes one rotten egg to spoil the bunch. |
